A ringing E chord and three-dee melodie

Thoughts

Consider this an extension of Stereolab as it's led by Tim Gane. At times they mimic Stereolab and CAN with the organ and spritely bounce so often employed in their songs. I'd say these guys are a bit more laid back and not quite as tight. There's an exploratory rhythm and that's perhaps what invokes CAN, each beat feels like they're chugging into new territory and comfortable with wherever they end up (perhaps this natural optimism is what makes stereolab so infectious).

Pantechnicon is a good one, the keys feel a bit more fun and it signals a more melodic shift overall.

What’s it sound like?

Krautrock with synths: styles ranges from ambient to bouncy.

Thoughts

Great album, these tracks have a nice flow due to the repetitive expansiveness the jammy krautrock allows. A range of styles are on display which makes this an engaging listen: from the fun bouncy dino, semi ambient on sehr komisch.

Watussi got heavy play on WFMU.

Chilled out guitar on ahoi, hasn’t aged a bit and would sound just as good on a recent release.

Veterano is jammy excellence.

All around krautrock classic.

Minami Deutsch – With Dim Light

What’s it sound like?

Mostly instrumental jammy repetitive chord driven krautrock-like

Thoughts
Good not great modern krautrock. I’ve seen a UFO could’ve been a CAN track and kicks the 2nd half off for the better as the guitar solos get a bit more interesting and its more proper kraut. Bitter moon evolves nicely starting acoustically into a explorative guitar solo.

They’re effective at creating textures so I’d say it succeeds musically but a little boring at times. Probably need to spend a bit more time with this one.
